Lean Australia
has been facilitating the roll out of lean manufacturing philosophy at The Lincoln
Electric Company Australia over the past few months.
Lincoln Electric is the largest manufacturer of welding machines and consumables in the
world. It has been in operation for 110 years, and the Australian facility for 67 years.
Brian has been able to effectively engage all levels in our organisation in pursuit of
process improvement, culture change in the context of workplace organisation, and training
deployment.
Brian approaches training and information deployment in a hands-on, can do manner, whilst
maintaining a focus on the high level planning, strategy, and vision.
This has resulted in some short term wins for Lincoln, particularly with the 5S and Blitz
deployments, two of tools in the lean portfolio.

I was skeptical about the implementation of 5S in the Flux Blending Plant, because of my
knowledge, over a long period of time, of the area and the staff involved. However the
great visual impact and operational improvements that were achieved in a short period of
time, and sustained, sold me on the concept and turned my views around about 5S and
getting people involved. The
